October 5, 2020October 26, 2020 / thebetterplanetproject / 6 Comments

I can’t compost because… I live in an apartment. I don’t have a backyard/garden. I have a phobia of worms. It will make my house stink. It will attract pests. It requires buying too much equipment. I just love the little free libraries that are popping up everywhere! They are such a great way to foster a sharing economy, build community, and reduce waste. Yesterday, we went for an extra long walk to enjoy the warm-ish weather, and I came across a little library I hadn’t seen before. It just happened to have this book that I’ve been wanting to read for a while! I took it home to read and took myself off of the waitlist at the library. Welcome to my hyggekrog! This cozy little nook is the perfect place to relax, especially on a cold winter day. I outfitted it with a second-hand chair, blanket, pillow, plants, and an ethically-made soy candle. I love sitting here to enjoy a cup of tea, read a book, or watch the snow fall outside the window.
Happy Random Acts of Kindness Day! Swipe for some ideas to spread a little kindness!
Brrr, it’s cold out there! ❄️ In an attempt to put a positive spin on the record cold temperatures and massive snowstorm we’ve been pummeled with here in the midwest, I’m sharing my tips for practicing hygge in an ethical and sustainable way over on the blog. If you could use a little warmth and comfort right now, go check it out! Link in bio. 😊
Whether you’re single or in a relationship, be your own valentine! In a consumerist society that capitalizes on telling you that you’re not enough, self-love is a radical act. Today, do something for yourself, even if it’s just lighting a candle and sitting in silence for a few minutes. 💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
